The Bonneville Power Administration is seeking highly qualified, dynamic candidates to lead its Power Services Business Line.  The Senior Vice President, Power Services oversees a multi-faceted organization that is responsible within the Pacific Northwest  region for the acquisition and sales of wholesale and bulk power; asset investments in the Federal Columbia River hydro-generation system and the nuclear Columbia Generating Station; the acquisition of additional energy resources; management of wholesale customer contracts associated with over $3 billion dollars of annual revenue; and management of an annual capital budget of over $170 million.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of the western power markets and demonstrates strong competencies in learning agility, customer focus, political savvy and drive for results. Qualified candidates will have an outstanding track record in successfully managing: wholesale power marketing strategies, coordination of a mix of power generation projects, regional utility relationships, and development of short- and long-term power products and rates consistent with prudent utility practices in a changing world.

The Senior Vice President for Power Services’ role is to articulate strategic goals and clear direction for the Power Services organization and guide the organization in the accomplishment of them.  This includes responsibility for the planning and administration of a program to serve customer needs.  Power Services develops and executes wholesale power marketing strategies; designs and prices long- and short-term power products; negotiates and administers the sales of these products; schedules and plans and coordinates the operations of the power plants of the Federal Columbia River system (which includes 31 Federal dams, non-Federal power plants, and a major nuclear project), and jointly oversees investment in those assets along with other agencies.  Power Services operates with four sub-organizations: Generation Asset Management, Bulk Marketing, Policy and Rates, and Requirements Marketing. The candidate is expected to work closely to align energy efficiency as a generation resource that is integrated into the mix of resource options to meet growing load resource requirements

The Bonneville Power Administration, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, is a Federal agency under the U.S. Department of Energy. BPA serves the Pacific Northwest by operating an extensive electricity transmission system and marketing wholesale electrical power at cost from federal dams, one non-federal nuclear plant and other nonfederal hydroelectric and wind energy generation facilities. BPA strives to be a national leader in providing high reliability, low rates consistent with sound business principles, responsible environmental stewardship and accountability to the region.
